Jury in Meredith Kercher trial retires

Jury in Meredith Kercher trial retires
The jury in the trial of two people accused of killing British student Meredith Kercher has retired to consider its verdict.

Amanda Knox and her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito are accused of killing and sexually abusing the 21-year-old in November 2007.

Meredith was found semi-naked with her throat slit in the flat she shared with Ms Knox in the Italian city of Perugia.

Ms Knox, 22, and Mr Sollecito, 25, have continually denied the charges brought against them.

The prosecution claims the pair killed Meredith after she refused to take part in a drug-fuelled sex game.

Yesterday, Ms Knox addressed the Italian court and expressed her fear at having the 'mask of a killer forced onto my skin'.

She also said she was frustrated and sad at having spent the last two years in prison.

A third person, Rudy Guede, 22, from the Ivory Coast, has already been convicted of Meredith's murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison, after opting for a fast-track trial.ADNFCR-708-ID-19495475-ADNFCR
