Man guilty of killing girl, 3, in fire

Francesca Bimpson was unable to escape the fire
A man who killed a three-year-old girl after setting fire to her family home in a revenge attack in Liverpool has been found guilty of murder.

Francesca Bimpson was unable to escape the fire last year and suffered 85 per cent burns to her body and died in hospital three weeks later.

At Liverpool crown court yesterday the jury took just two-and-a-half hours to find Graham Heaps, 44, guilty of her murder.

The court heard how Heaps, from Crumlin, south Wales, had started the fire after becoming bitter at the fact his relationship with Francesca's aunt had ended.

In December last year he poured petrol through the letterbox of the family home in the Everton area of the city before setting fire to it.

He is due to be sentenced later today.ADNFCR-708-ID-19499424-ADNFCR
