Hodgson prepared for Basle test

Hodgson believes his side should already be qualified for Europa
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson said he is pleased that his side's 1-0 win at home to CSKA Sofia has giving his side a good chance of qualifying for the last 32 of the Europa League.

However, Hodgson was left feeling slightly aggrieved that they should already be qualified.

He said: 'It gives ourselves a chance in the final game. We’ll go to Basle and see what happens down there.

'It’s nice to know we’re not out of it.

'But quite frankly had we got the results against Roma that we deserved then we could have gone to Basle and play a junior side and having already qualified.'

The 1-0 win pleased Hodgson, although he feels they should have taken advantage of the early pressure in the first half.

He continued: 'I thought our first-half performance was really good and it was a shame it was only 1-0 at half time it should have been two or three nil - which I think we deserved - it would have been a much easier second half.'

As Fulham entered the last remaining minutes they were under a lot of pressure but Hodgson was happy with the way his players dealt with it.

'They brought one or two new players on and at 1-0 they're entitled to have a go and unfortunately for us they managed to exert some pressure but I’m pleased we stood up to the threat and won the game and also kept a clean sheet.'ADNFCR-708-ID-19494982-ADNFCR
