Police arrest husband after wife's strangling

Police arrest husband after wife
Cheshire police have arrested a 26-year-old man after his wife of six months was found strangled to death at their home.

The body of Vicky Roberts, 25, was found dumped in a garage at the couple's home in Runcorn two days ago, and a hunt had been underway for her husband Michael to come forward.

He was detained in Wrexham, north Wales, on Sunday, around 30 miles from the couple's property.

Mrs Roberts' body was found in a garage at the couple's address in Partington Square on Thursday evening, after police were alerted by the victim's father, who was concerned at having not heard from his daughter.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said on Sunday: 'Following police inquiries a 26-year-old man has been arrested in Wrexham and police appeals for Michael Roberts are now cancelled.'

Officers issued a wedding day photograph of the couple as they renewed an appeal for Mr Roberts to come forward on Saturday and confirmed Mrs Roberts' death was being treated as 'suspicious'.

A spokeswoman confirmed: 'A post-mortem to determine the cause of death took place [on Friday].

'Early indications are that the cause of death was strangulation, although further tests will need to be carried out.'

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 0845 458 000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.ADNFCR-708-ID-19497409-ADNFCR
