Drogba: That is why we're top of the league

Didier Drogba praises Chelsea
Desire, belief, the meanest defence and the joint-best goal record in the Premier League are the foundations upon which Chelsea's season has been built, Didier Drogba says.

The Ivorian scored twice in a 3-0 win at the Emirates yesterday as his personal record against Arsenal improved further.

Drogba has now scored ten in 11 appearances against Arsenal during which he has never finished on the losing side.

'It just may be lucky,' the striker said after yesterday's match, which also saw a Thomas Vermaelen own goal.

'I don't know if it is something special but it is always nice to challenge yourself and see what you can do against players like [William] Gallas, Vermaelen and [Cesc] Fabregas.

'I like to play against Arsenal because they used to be the team people supported in France because of all the French players there, so I was supporting them as well, but since I am Chelsea I do the job for my team and I am really delighted when we win like this.'

The win moved Chelsea 11 points clear of their north London rivals and restored the five-point cushion they enjoy over Manchester United in second.

The victory also saw the Blues level with Arsenal as the league's top scorers, while Carlo Ancelotti's side still have the best defensive record.

'Defensively we were strong and when we were attacking, we attacked with desire and belief and this is why we won and why we are top of the league,' Drogba, 31, added.

'Physically and mentally we are strong and we know how to go through difficult moments when the game is hard.'ADNFCR-708-ID-19486118-ADNFCR
