Red Bull extend Vettel's contract

Red Bull Racing have confirmed that they have extended their contract with Sebastien Vettel until the end of the 2011 season.

The 22-year old from Heppenheim in Germany appeared in formula one in 2007 when he stood in for Robert Kubica and then saw out the rest of the season with the Toro Rosso team, where he remained throughout 2008.

After clinching his first F1 career victory at the Italian grand prix in Monza last year, the young German was then promoted from Red Bull’s sister team and currently lies just 23 points adrift of championship leader Jenson Button in the standings with seven races left of the 2009 season.

Red Bull made their announcement today before the first Friday practice session of the European grand prix weekend and confirmed that Vettel will have the option of staying on at the squad into 2012 as well.ADNFCR-708-ID-19324452-ADNFCR
