The date of Michael Jackson's funeral has been delayed for unspecified reasons, it has been announced.
The singer, who died on June 25th, will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on September 3rd, family spokesman Ken Sunshine said.
Jackson's family had initially said the King of Pop would be interred in the Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn-Glendale in a daytime ceremony on August 29th, which would have been his 51st birthday.
Sunshine offered no explanation for the delay, which will see the Los Angeles ceremony - strictly attended by family and close friends - take place in the evening instead.
An official coroner's report into the star's death is still awaited, while an accompanying police investigation is still ongoing.
