Oasis pull out of V headline slot after illness

Oasis pulled out of their headline slot at V festival in Chelmsford after Liam Gallagher was diagnosed with viral laryngitis.

A spokesman said the band were 'gutted' at the turn of events, which saw Snow Patrol step in at Hylands Park.

Writing on his blog this weeked, Liam said he had not enjoyed an Oasis set on Saturday night 'one bit'.

'Don't feel too clever,' he wrote. 'Outrageous stomach ache. Feel like I'm coming down with summat. Bugger. Might have to get the doctor out in the morning. Hope it came out of the speakers OK. Gutted. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.'

On Sunday festival organisers confirmed the band were pulling out entirely.

'Fans will naturally be disappointed but of course - the artist's health must come first,' said festival director Bob Angus.

'The acts on the V Stage are sure to play their set of their lives so fans have a fantastic Sunday night.'

A band spokesman added: 'After a year of being on the road this is the first performance to be lost to a band member's illness, so naturally we are all completely gutted. Liam is resting up and should be fine to resume the tour next Friday in Paris.'ADNFCR-708-ID-19325987-ADNFCR
