Federer is Cin city winner

Roger Federer won his first tournament since becoming a father by beating Novak Djokovic 6-1, 7-5 in the final of the Cincinnati Masters.

Djokovic, who beat Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the semi-finals, only avoided being humiliated 6-0 in the first set by winning his third service game.

He stormed back to lead 3-0 in the second set but was no match for his opponent who displayed the same form which despatched Andy Murray so convincingly in the semi-finals.

Federer now holds an 8-4 career record against Djokovic but it was his first win against the Serbian since 2008's US Open final.

The Swiss master will now be the clear favourite to win the US Open when it starts on 31st August.

He said: 'I couldn't be more happy right now. I didn't know if I'd be able to play here because of Myla and Charlene.

'Thanks to them coming earlier - it was good timing!'ADNFCR-708-ID-19325930-ADNFCR
