Calvin Harris beats Michael Jackson to number one

The late King of Pop Michael Jackson's eight-week posthumous reign at the top of the UK albums chart is over, courtesy of Calvin Harris.

The Scottish singer/producer went straight to number one with Ready for the Weekend, while the single of the same name occupies fourth place in its chart, the Official Charts Company said.

Ready for the Weekend is Harris' first-ever UK number one in the albums chart, adding to the number one single he scored with I'm Not Alone, which comes from this album, earlier in the year.

The 25-year-old's debut album I Created Disco peaked at number eight in 2007, spawning hit singles The Girls and Acceptable in the Eighties.

For the past eight weeks (seven with The Essential and one with Number Ones) Jackson had held the top-selling album.

The Essential now drops to number six, while Tinchy Stryder's Catch 22 comes in at number two.

In the UK singles chart, David Guetta has scored his second number one with Sexy Chick featuring Akon. In June the DJ and Kelly Rowland went to the top spot with When Love Takes Over.ADNFCR-708-ID-19325991-ADNFCR
