Green protestors linked to the week-long Climate Camp this morning stormed the headquarters of the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in Westminster.
Our correspondent said up to 20 activists had taken over the lobby at the building on Whitehall Place, with some chaining themselves to the revolving doors.
Demonstrators are angry that the department's climate change targets do not go far enough.
Several police are in attendance, our correspondent added, as is a man inside a kayak and activists brandishing 'flippers and goggles'.
According to an unofficial spokesperson for the demonstrators, activists will only leave if they are granted an audience with climate change secretary Ed Miliband.
Mr Miliband is currently in India however as part of a south Asia tour.
Shortly before noon the protestors ended their blockade at DECC, travelling to nearby Trafalgar Square to go kayaking in the fountains.
