Five in court over Graff 'heist'

By inthenews.co.uk staff.

Five men have been remanded in custody after appearing in court on charges related to what police say is Britain's biggest-ever jewellery robbery.

Two men appeared in court today via video-link to be charged alongside three men already implicated in the alleged robbery at Graff Jewellers in Mayfair, west London, last month.

More than £40 million was stolen from the jewellers on New Bond Street on August 6th.

Appearing at Kingston crown court today were Gregory Jones, 29, Eligin Avenue, Harrow; and Courtney Lawrence, 30, Ladbroke Grove, west London. Both have been charged with conspiring with others to rob Graff Jewellers.

Clinton Mogg, 42, Westby Road, Bournemouth; has already been charged with an identical offence.

Two other men, Solomun Beyene, 24, Lilestone Street, north London; and Craig Calderwood, 26, no fixed abode; have also been charged with the same offence and an accompanying offence of possession of a firearm.

All five have been remanded in custody until their next court appearance on October 23rd.
