England to face Brazil in Qatar

John Terry leads out England against Brazil at the new Wembley Stadium in 2007
The Football Association has announced that England will take on Brazil in an international friendly in Qatar in November.

Manager Fabio Capello described the fixture against the Confederations Cup champions in Doha as 'one part of [his] plans' as England build towards the World Cup finals in South Africa next summer.

The Italian is understood to have hand-picked the South American side, who have won five World Cups and featured in seven finals, because of their pedigree as one of the top sides for the November 14th fixture.

Capello said: 'To play a team like Brazil will be an important moment for us, we can understand more about ourselves and the level we must reach by playing the best teams.

'We have played Spain, Holland, Germany and France, some of the best teams in the world. In each of these games we have also played away from home, which is important before South Africa.

'One of the benefits of securing qualification against Croatia is that we can start to plan for the World Cup, and this match is one part of our plans.'

Both England and Brazil have already qualified for the 2010 finals and last met in the inaugural match at the new Wembley Stadium in 2007 - a game that ended in a 1-1 draw.ADNFCR-708-ID-19375221-ADNFCR
