Iran tests short-range missiles

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has defended Iran
Iran has tested two short-range missiles, according to state TV reports, amid rising tensions with the west.

Tehran also announced plans for a long-range Shahab-3 missile test, which are believed to be capable of reaching Israel, later Monday.

Iran's state-run al-Alam and Press TV channels said the short-range missiles Tondar-69 and Fateh-110 type were test-fired but gave no details on their range.

The show of force comes days after the US and Britain condemned Iran for the construction of a uranium enrichment plant.

The military exercise comes ahead of talks with the UN security council members, plus Germany, next Thursday in Geneva.

The leaders of the US, Britain and France have accused Tehran of keeping a nuclear plant secret in breach of UN rules.

But Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has insisted the facility complies with international regulations.ADNFCR-708-ID-19380401-ADNFCR
