Everton star robbed at knifepoint at home

Everton defender Phil Jagielka unhurt after knifemen rob him at his house
Everton defender Phil Jagielka has been left shaken after being robbed at knifepoint at his home in Cheshire.

The 27-year-old, currently still out of action after rupturing his knee ligaments in April, was watching his team-mates play Hull City in the Carling Cup on Wednesday night when three men burst into his £2 million home in Knutsford.

He was forced to hand over jewellery and keys to his Range Rover, one of a number of luxury cars in the driveway.

'Three men gained entry to a house in Knutsford,' a statement from Cheshire police said.

'The homeowner was threatened with a knife and forced to hand over jewellery and the keys to his Range Rover car, fortunately nobody was injured during the incident and the car was found abandoned a short distance away.'

Jagielka, whose wife and children are not thought to have been home at the time of the incident, is the 11th footballer on Merseyside to have his home broken in to.

Other high-profile victims include team-mate Steven Piennar and Liverpool players Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt and Pepe Reina.

And Manchester United star Darren Fletcher's home was raided by knifemen last season when the midfielder was away on Champions League duty with his club.ADNFCR-708-ID-19378330-ADNFCR
