Leicester Tigers are determined to start the season well as they begin the defence of their league title against Sale Sharks.
The Tigers line-up will contain summer signings Anthony Allen and Jeremy Staunton for the first time for the clash at Edgeley Park.
Tigers head coach Richard Cockerill said, “Everybody in the Guiness Premiership will be keen to get off to a good start.
“The pre-season work is all done and everyone is very keen to get started. We have brought in some new faces this summer and they have settled well.
“Everyone has worked hard, now we want to get back out on the pitch.”
Other Tigers new boys Billy Twelvetrees and James Grindal, both in their second spells at the club, are on the replacements bench.
The visitors will have to do without Harry Ellis and Tom Croft though who are on extended leave following their outing with the Lions.
The Sharks’ director of Rugby Kingsley Jones knows his team will have to work hard to overcome a strong Tigers side.
Jones said, “This is probably the toughest challenge we could have expected on the opening night of the new season.
“I have a lot of respect for the Tigers and their achievements this season. They are very strong up front and we will need to work hard for the whole 80 minutes.
“We have prepared well this week and the whole squad is looking forward to the game.”
The home side have winger Ben Cohen in their first XV for the first time alongside fellow debutants Jack Forster and Sisa Koyamaibole.
