Police fined £40k as officer shoots colleague
Thames Valley police have been fined £40,000 after one its officers accidently shot a colleague.

PC David Micklethwaite mistakenly loaded a Magnum .44 revolver with a live round and pulled the trigger while pointing the gun at Keith Tilbury, a telephone operator.

M Tilbury, 51, was shot through the body and required emergency surgery. He apparently will never be able to work again.

At Southwark crown court this morning, the police force was fined over the incident.
