Oasis up for music award despite break-up

Oasis could be named the best act in the world next month despite their recent split, it has emerged.

The future of the Mancunian band is in doubt after guitarist Noel Gallagher quit last month but they could still win the top prize at the upcoming Q awards, after the 2009 nominations were revealed.

Also named in the best act in the world category are Kings of Leon, Muse, Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys, who lead the way with four nominations in total.

The Sheffield band are up for the best live act and best track prizes, and are nominated for best album for their third LP Humbug.

Mr Hudson is the only male nominee in the breakthrough artist category while White Lies and Mercury nominees Friendly Fires are both up for the best new act award.

'The Q Awards prides itself on honouring the best popular music of the year and the 2009 vintage is no exception,' said Q editor-in-chief Paul Rees.

'Once again the nominations prove that great music continues to be made across a broad range of styles.'

The 2009 Q Awards take place on October 26th at the Grosvenor House hotel on London's Park Lane.
