Lom said the Red Bull team is well aware of the demands of Monza as an engine killer and that the team is hoping that their reliability problems, which has seen them lose a total of three engines over the last two grand prix weekends, have been left behind at Spa.
Looking back at the Belgian grand prix, Lom said it was a weekend of mixed fortunes.
'The performance seemed to return, but the weekend still didn't meet our expectations,' said Lom.
'We were quicker than the Brawns, but we couldn't turn this advantage into maximum points.
'This was due to the remarkable performances of Raikkonen and Fisichella, who kept Sebastian off the top step of the podium and also because of Mark's penalty, which meant he finished outside the points.'
'The bad luck that we encountered in Valencia followed us to Spa.
'We had an electrical problem with the engine on Mark's car during P3, which meant we had to change the engine before qualifying. Mark sat out the whole of the final practice session, which understandably disrupted his preparation for qualifying.
'The rest of the weekend was actually fairly straightforward.
'The good news is that Mark's engine wasn't damaged and he will be able to use it again later in the year.'
And looking forward to the next grand prix in Italy, Lom said Red Bull are keen to show off the strengths of their Renault engines, although they know Monza will suit the KERS cars.
'All we can do is cross our fingers,' said Lom.
'We've done everything we possibly can so hopefully we are well prepared.
'It's true that Monza is very demanding for the engines, but on the other hand we hope that the strength of our engine can shine through this weekend.
'The battle on the racetrack is going to be very competitive on a circuit that is likely to suit the KERS cars - a system that we don't have on the Red Bull Renaults.'
