Lab worker in custody over Yale murder

A technician who works at the Yale University laboratory where a 24-year-old student's body was found this week has been named as a person of interest in her murder inquiry.

Raymond Clark, also 24, has not been arrested but was taken from his Connecticut apartment in handcuffs by local police last night.

Officers then re-entered his apartment to search for forensic evidence that could link him to the murder of Annie Le.

The PhD student's body was found hidden behind a basement wall in the lab she worked at on Sunday; the day she was due to get married and days after she was first reported missing.

Local paper the New Haven Independent said Mr Clark had an 'unrequited love interest' in Ms Le.

Due to his position as a laboratory technician he would have been able to access the security-protected areas of the facility.

'We're going to be making sure [there are] not other suspects out there,' said James Lewis, New Haven chief of police.

A statement on behalf of the Le family from Reverend Dennis Smith thanked family and friends for their support since Annie's body was found.

'Our loss would have been immeasurably more difficult to cope with without their support,' Rev Smith said.
