Dozens killed in Turkey flash floods

Dozens killed in Turkey flash floods
Reports suggest at least 16 people have been killed after flash floods struck the Turkish capital of Istanbul.

Amongst the casualties are believed to have been seven women who drowned when the minibus in which they were travelling got caught up in the floods.

Speaking yesterday, Turkey's procurement minister Mustafa Demir said a number of people were still missing and rescue attempts were continuing to try and find them.

Over 20 people are believed to have died in total since floods struck the north-western region of Turkey at the beginning of the week.

The situation is expected to worsen in the coming days, with further rain forecast today.

Eyewitness reports have described vehicles being swept away by the surging waters and considerable damage caused to numerous businesses and homes.ADNFCR-708-ID-19352748-ADNFCR
