Pakistan cruise past Windies after scare

Umar Gul took three wickets.
Pakistan chased down a meagre 133 against a spirited West Indies bowling attack to win the first match in Group A of the Champions Trophy.

Umar Akmal starred with the bat for Pakistan (41*) after a superb spell of bowling from Gavin Tonge (4-25) gave the Windies a glimmer of hope.

Floyd Reifer won the toss and elected to bat, and instantly was left to rue his decision. Dale Richards fell to Mohammad Aamer in the first over and things got worse from there.

At one stage they found themselves on 47-7 as Aamer (3-24) and Umar Gul (3-28) ran riot.

It took a gutsy 53 from number nine Nikita Miller to get his side up to a score they could actually bowl at.

Tonge took the new ball and bowled a devastating spell that saw him single-handedly reduce Pakistan to 61-4.

David Bernard then dismissed Misbah-ul-Haq with the score on 76, before 19-year-old Akmal and stand-in skipper Shahid Afridi saw Pakistan home with 19.3 overs to spare.ADNFCR-708-ID-19376959-ADNFCR
