Moyes 'amazed' over red card

Everton manager David Moyes has expressed his frustration at the sending off of striker Louis Saha in his side's 4-0 victory over AEK Athens.

Even with two extra assistants in place for the opening group game of the Europa League, Moyes believes the officials made 'the wrong decision'.

The French striker was sent off after raising his hands to AEK midfielder Juanfran but the Toffees boss is annoyed that the two extra officials failed to spot an earlier kick on Saha.

He said: 'It is amazing they [the officials] see the small arm but don't see the big kick - even with the extra officials.

'The extra officials were looking for something to do and for them not to see the kick on Louis inside the box was disappointing. We hope that we get more decisions right than we get wrong.'

Everton now sit top of the table with a comfortable goal difference and aside from the red card Moyes was pleased with the performance.

'I thought the performance was good, with some good goals and to score from a couple of set-pieces was pleasing. The goals early on made the second half a lot easier,' he said.

Everton's next Europa League game will see them travel to Bulgaria on October 1st to play BATE Borisov, who lost to Benfica 2-0 last night.
