Luke Wright ruled out of Natwest Series

England's Luke Wright has been ruled out of the NatWest Series against Australia and his participation in the ICC Champions Trophy now seems in doubt.

The big-hitter missed the four-wicket defeat yesterday at Trent Bridge after suffering a foot injury in practice.

The all-rounder was struck on the toe while batting in the nets against the bowling machine at the national performance centre in Loughborough.

The ECB have confirmed the injury, which required stitches, will keep him out of the remaining two games with England currently trailing 5-0. He will now be assessed after the series concludes on Sunday.

England are allowed to name a replacement for the tournament in South Africa if Wright fails to recover in time. Meanwhile Hampshire captain Dimitri Mascarenhas, who replaced the 24-year-old Wright in Nottingham, will remain with the squad for the rest of the series.
