The 22-year-old spoke only to confirm his name at Snaresbrook crown court on Monday morning but did not enter a plea.
He has been remanded in custody until November 16th when he will return to court for a plea and case management hearing.
Tweed was arrested earlier this month following a complaint from a young woman and charged with one count of rape over an alleged attack at an address in Woodford Green, Essex on September 4th.
He is expected to deny the charge.
