At least 46 people are thought to have died in the powerful earthquake that rocked Indonesia yesterday.
Landslides were triggered in the town of Cianiur after the 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Java at 14:55 local time (08:55 BST).
The quake, which took place 198km south-east of the capital Jakarta, saw local tsunami warnings issued briefly before being withdrawn.
Indonesia's national disaster coordinating agency said more than 400 people were injured in the aftermath of the quake.
'We are still searching for the survivors who might still be buried under their houses of buildings,' agency worker Maman Susanto told the AFP news agency.
'About 18,000 houses and buildings have been damaged.'
Thousands of people fled their homes in Jakarta after the quake as high-rise buildings swayed.
A resident in the town of Sukabumi 50km south of the capital, told local radio: 'The earthquake was shaking everything in my house very strongly for almost a minute.
'I grabbed my children and ran out. I saw people were in panic. Women were screaming, and children were crying.'
