Walcott suffered a knee ligament injury on his return to the Arsenal first-team against Birmingham City on Saturday - his first start this season.
The injury will see him out of action until mid to late November, meaning he will miss out on England's next friendly against Brazil in Qatar – one of only four matches between now and the World Cup next summer.
'I believe he is worried, but he shouldn't be,' said Wenger, whose side take on AZ Alkmaar in the Champions League tonight.
'He has a two to three week injury, maybe four to make sure we are covered.
'But it is only October and he has time.'
The Frenchman said the injury suffered by Walcott was 'not good' as scans had shown he would be missing for much longer than the initial prognosis of a couple of days.
'We are without Theo for longer than expected,' Wenger admitted.
'We thought it would be just 48 hours but it is a medial knee ligament, which is what I feared after the game. He will be out for three to four weeks.'
Walcott's chances of making the plane to South Africa could be affected by England boss Fabio Capello's policy of only selecting players who are playing regularly for their clubs.
The former Southampton youngster missed the majority of last season because of two separate shoulder operations and several other niggles.
However, he played his way into Capello's thoughts with a match-winning hat-trick in the World Cup qualifier against Croatia in Zagreb last October which set England on their way to next summer's finals in style.
