Man sectioned after Leona Lewis attack

Man sectioned under Mental Health Act after
A man has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act after allegedly assaulting singer Leona Lewis at a London book signing, it has been confirmed.

Peter Kopwalczyk, 29, has been charged with common assault after allegedly punching the X Factor winner as she signed copies of her new book at a signing in Piccadilly, Scotland Yard has signed.

The south London man has also been sectioned, a spokesman confirmed, and will appear at the City of Westminster magistrates' court on October 26th.

The Bleeding Love singer, who been signing copies of her upcoming autobiography Dreams, said in a statement she had been left 'extremely hurt and upset' by the incident on Wednesday.

She has since cancelled a planned promotional visit to Germany after her appearance at Waterstone's was cut short following the alleged punch.

'I'm very sorry to those I wasn't able to meet at the signing,' 24-year-old Lewis added.

'Thank you again for all of the lovely messages. Love you all.'

The winner of The X Factor in 2006, Lewis has sold more than five million albums and been nominated for three Grammys.ADNFCR-708-ID-19412008-ADNFCR
