Website wikileaks.org published the comprehensive list of more than 11,000 names on Tuesday morning, including names, addresses, telephone numbers and the grade of membership.
Last November the BNP faced similar embarrassment when an earlier membership list was published by the same website.
A statement by wikileaks.org said the data had been 'verified to be accurate in all cases'.
'However it should not be assumed that every person with a BNP membership number is a current member of the BNP. For instance, journalists and opponents have sometimes joined the BNP to obtain information about it,' it added.
The publication of the list comes on the same day a group of retired generals warned of the dangers of the BNP exploiting pride in the armed forces and two days before its leader Nick Griffin appears on BBC1's Question Time.
Analysis of the list shows that almost one in eight members is a woman, while the highest concentration of BNP members is found in Leicestershire, Lancashire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
A BNP spokesperson earlier said any publication of the list would be a breach of the Data Protection Act. Last month former BNP member Matthew Single admitted leaking the data published in November and was fined £200 under the same act.
“The allegation is that it is complete as of April this year,” Mr Griffin said in a statement on the party's website.
“We have no way of knowing that as yet, but it might be possible that the new list is a concoction of the old leaked list combined with inquiries up until April.
“As everyone knows, inquiries are often made out of curiosity or even hostility, and cannot be taken as an indication of membership or support.'
In 2006 a separate Guardian investigation into BNP supporters revealed that English National Ballet ballerina Simon Clarke was a member of the party.
