Pompey seal first home win as Chelsea stay top

Aruna Dindane scored a hat trick as Portsmouth recorded their first home win of the season with a 4-0 victory over Wigan.

The home side dominated the early stages of the game and took a deserved lead midway through the first-half when Dindane latched onto Michael Brown’s through pass and lifted the ball over Chris Kirkland.

Dindane then turned provider as he played through Frederic Piquionne to run into the box and smash in Pompey’s second.

Piquionne was forced off with a head injury in the second-half and was replaced by Kanu who set up Dindane to score his second of the afternoon.

And the Ivory Coast striker completed his hat trick from the penalty spot in injury time to secure a vital win for Paul Hart’s struggling side at Fratton Park.

Chelsea moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League as they beat Bolton 4-0 at the Reebok stadium.

Gary Megson’s side frustrated Chelsea but went behind before half-time with Frank Lampard beating Jussi Jaaskelainen from the penalty spot after Jay Lloyd Samuel was sent-off for a foul on Didier Drogba.

Lampard smashed a shot against the bar on the hour before Deco doubled Chelsea’s lead after good work from Nicolas Anelka.

Bolton’s misery was compounded late on when Zat Knight nodded the ball into his own net before Didier Drogba rounded off the scoring in the final minute.

Everton and Aston Villa shared the points at Goodison Park with a 1-1 draw.

Diniyar Bilyaletdinov put David Moyes’ team into the lead right on half-time when he slotted a right-foot shot past Brad Friedel from Yakubu’s knockdown.

Aston Villa equalised immediately after the break though as substitute John Carew – on for James Milner – poked the ball in after Tim Howard’s save from Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Both teams were reduced to 10-men in the final minutes when Bilyaletdinov and Carlos Cuellar were shown red cards with both sets of players looking happy with a draw as the final whistle blew.ADNFCR-708-ID-19439380-ADNFCR
