Howard was man of the match for Everton but conceded that his side never came close to matching the quality of the opposition's play at Goodison Park.

Howard can draw consolation that Everton at least avoided a repeat of the 5-0 drubbing they received when they faced Benfica a fortnight ago.
'We don't have the luxury of feeling sorry for ourselves,' the American added as he looked forward to his side's next Europa League outing against AEK Athens.
