Zamora headed Fulham into the lead in the first-half and set up strike partner Diomansy Kamara to score the winner after the break.
Speaking after the game, Zamora said: “We dominated the game with good possession, good football and good chances. Maybe we should have got more goals but we're over the moon.
'The hard work has paid off. In previous games we've worked hard and not got the result we deserved but we deserve the three points tonight,' he added.
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson agreed with his striker, and believes his team’s performance merited a victory which takes them up to twelfth in the Premier League.
'We were unlucky at home to Arsenal and away to West Ham - the performances were better than the points tally - but tonight we tied the two knots together,' said Hodgson.
'We thought we could get better in the second half so the first goal changed nothing from a tactical point of view, although the mood did.
'I wasn't unhappy with the team and would have expected them to keep playing the same way,' he added.
However, Fulham’s joy may be dampened by an injury to captain Danny Murphy.
Hodgson said: 'It's a knee injury, which isn't good - but we won't know any more until tomorrow, when we have it checked out.'
