The Somerset star, 33, enjoyed a remarkable season, scoring almost 3,000 runs in all competitions as he led his county to a runners-up spots in the Twenty20 Cup and the Pro40 and third place in the County Championship.
Trescothick, who picks up the Reg Hayter Cup for winning the vote of his peers, retired from international cricket because of a stress-related illness that prevented him from travelling.
However, he is currently in India with Somerset for the Twenty20 Champions League.
Leicestershire batsman James Taylor won the John Arlott Cup for the PCA young player of the year, which has been won by future England internationals Ravi Bopara (2008), Adil Rashid (2007), Alastair Cook (2006 and 2005), and Ian Bell (2004).
Meanwhile there were also awards for Ashes-winning England captains Andrew Strauss (PCA special merit award) and now-retired Michael Vaughan (ECB special award).
