Gloucester thumped as Leicester bounce back

Gloucester suffered a thumping defeat at the hands of Biarritz in the Heineken Cup while Leicester fared much better against Viadana to get their campaign back on track.

A hat-trick of tries from Biarritz winger Takudzwa Ngwenya saw the French team run out 42-15 victors over Gloucester and consigned the English team to third place in their group.

Leicester meanwhile had a hat-trick hero of their own with Scott Hamilton crossing three times to add to the scores by Tom Croft, Lucas Amorosino, Johne Murphy, and a penalty try in their 46-11 win.

In the day's other games reigning champions Leinster bounced back from the defeat to London Irish in the first round of games to overcome Brive 36-13.

Two late Kevin McLaughin tries eventually handed the Irish team victory after Brive, mainly through English fly-half Andy Goode, battled to remain in the game.

The other results included Munster defeating Treviso 41-10 and the Scarlets scrapping a 27-25 win over London Irish.
