United drawn against rivals City

Carling Cup holders Manchester United will take on local rivals Manchester City in the last four of this year's competition.

The draw for the semi-finals was made after the fourth quarter-final ended with Premier League leaders Chelsea being knocked out by Blackburn, who will play Aston Villa.

Big-spending City have already met United once this season - a thrilling game that ended in a 4-3 win for the Red Devils after Michael Owen's last-minute winner at Old Trafford.

City, who have been playing a near full-strength side in the competition to date, saw off Arsenal 3-0 at Eastlands on Wednesday while United earned their place in the semis with a 2-0 win over Spurs.

Martin O'Neill's Villa side reached the last four after a 4-2 victory over top flight strugglers Portsmouth on Tuesday.ADNFCR-708-ID-19492553-ADNFCR
