Pearson returns as Tigers chairman

Adam Pearson has returned to Hull City as executive chairman - just two years after severing all ties with the club by selling his controlling stake.

Pearson resigned from his role at Championship side Derby County last week, and has today been confirmed as the new Tigers chief following Paul Duffen's resignation.

Hull are struggling in the Premier League this season - having survived on the final day of the 2008/09 campaign despite defeat – and currently sit in the bottom three.

However, despite the club's on-field troubles, Pearson said he is 'delighted to be back'.

'Hull City is a club I know well and care passionately about,' he said.

'There are obviously significant challenges ahead but with real hard work from me and my staff allied to the usual outstanding support of Hull City fans I am sure we will take the club forward again.'

With the boardroom changes, the position of first-team manager Phil Brown has come under increasing pressure.

And while Pearson's predecessor Duffen promised Brown job security after saving the club from the drop last year, the new man has refused to offer any long-term assurances.

'Phil will be manager on Sunday but there's no point me saying he's got a job for life, that's not the case,' Pearson told BBC Radio Humberside.

'We need results, quickly, and that puts pressure on everyone at the club.'
