Murray back with a win in Valencia

Andy Murray marked his return to the tennis circuit with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the Valencia Open.

The world number four hasn't played a professional match since playing and winning two singles matches as Great Britain lost their Davis Cup relegation play-off against Poland in September.

The Scot played through the pain barrier during the tie, further aggravating a wrist injury, resulting in him withdrawing from subsequent tournaments in Shanghai and Tokyo.

His absence from the tour meant that he has slipped down the world rankings from number three to number four.

However, there was no sign of his wrist injury as he beat his Spanish opponent in straight sets although he is still receiving regular ice treatment in an attempt to get back to full fitness.ADNFCR-708-ID-19442099-ADNFCR
