Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has signed a contract extension that could keep him at the Anfield club until 2014.
The Spanish striker agreed the terms of the improved deal in May and has now put pen to paper as Liverpool prepare another challenge for the Premier League title.
The 25-year-old joined Liverpool from Atletico Madrid in 2007, signing a six-year deal with the Merseyside club.
The new deal includes an option for an extra year that could see Torres stay with Liverpool until 2014.
Speaking in May, Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, said: 'Fernando is one of the best strikers in the game today and, at his age, can only get better.
'Every major side would want him in their team, but he has shown how much he wants to achieve success at Liverpool by committing his future to the club.
'He's a special talent but still has the hunger to improve his game,' he added.
Since arriving at Liverpool, Torres has become one of the Premier League's top strikers, forming a formidable partnership with Steven Gerard and becoming the clubs first player since Robbie Fowler to score more than 20 league goals in a season.
