Britain's Jessica Ennis has described winning the heptathlon at the World Championships in Berlin as 'the best feeling in the world'.
The 23-year-old dominated the competition from the start, winning three of the first four events, and was almost assured of victory by simply completing the final event – the 800 metres.
Ennis instead won her heat outright, to finish on 6,731 points, and claim the gold medal.
Germany's Jennifer Oeser finished 238 points back and had to make do with the silver, while Kamila Chudzik took the bronze.
Ennis' victory is the first ever heptathlon gold at the World Championship for Britain, and afterwards she said the last two days had been the longest, but best, of her life.
'I've dreamt so many times about winning medals and becoming world champion, doing a lap of honour,' she told the BBC.
'It's the best feeling in the world. I can't even put into words how I feel right now, it's such an adrenaline rush and such an amazing feeling.'
