Cattermole out for three months

Sunderland
Sunderland's Lee Cattermole has suffered a knee ligament injury and will be out for at least three months, the club have revealed.

Cattermole, who signed for the Black Cats from Wigan in a £6 million deal in the summer, was stretchered off during Saturday's 1-0 victory over Liverpool at the Stadium of Light.

And after undergoing scans on the injury, the 21-year-old was told he faces being consigned to the treatment room until the new year.

Bustling midfielder Cattermole has been particularly unlucky with injuries since moving to the north east.

He has been troubled by a bruised heel for the last two months, which has required careful monitoring and pain-killing injections.

It also forced his withdrawal from the England under-21 squad earlier this month for their game against Macedonia in Coventry.ADNFCR-708-ID-19418078-ADNFCR
