Worcestershire have announced that wicketkeeper-batsman Steve Davies will not renew his contract with the county next season.
A former England under-19 captain, Davies has been touted by many as having the potential for a successful Test match career with his country.
The 23-year-old opened the batting for England in a Twenty20 international against the West Indies earlier this year, top scoring with 27, but has yet to be given another opportunity.
Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes said: 'Having been involved with Steve's development since the age of 11, I am quite naturally disappointed he won't be part of the club's plans in the immediate future.
'However the most important thing is the club must move forward and we will be searching for a suitable replacement.
'We respect his decision and hope that he has a very successful cricketing career with his new county and with England. He will always be welcome at New Road and will remain an integral part of our plans for the remainder of the season.'
Davies has a batting average of 36.85 from 73 first-class matches, with a top score of 192.
